Orrin Ailloni-Charas, MD, MBA

Dr. Orrin Ailloni-Charas is an honors graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, earned his MD at the NYU School of Medicine, and earned his MBA from Columbia University.  He completed his residency as a specialist in anesthesia at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and served from 2003-2016 as the Chief Financial Officer of a large private anesthesia practice in San Francisco. From 2016-2018, Dr. Ailloni-Charas was the Vice President of Clinical Investments at AngelMD, where he developed an evaluation platform and funding process for healthcare startups as well as built a large network of experts to support due diligence and investment. In 2018 until early 2020, he worked at RedCrow as Managing Director where he developed a comprehensive, qualitative and quantitative analytical platform for evaluating startups. He also produced and hosted a web-based show in partnership with NASDAQ which was focused on healthcare startups.    Prior to 2016, he held several consulting positions with digital health and biopharma companies, including with Pacira and HealthTap.

 

Dr. Ailloni-Charas is the CEO and Managing Partner of the Global Health Impact Fund(GHIF), a venture fund focused on  investing in early stage healthcare innovation. The GHIN is physician-led and physician-driven and leverages the expertise of large networks of physicians and domain experts with its proprietary, data science platform. The insights and experiences of the physician leaders, filter through the analytical engine provide the basis for improved investing outcomes by allowing for better understanding of the clinical and business challenges early stage healthcare startups encounter.

 

Dr. Ailloni-Charas draws on his experience of 25 years in the clinical practice of anesthesia at top medical institutions as well as lessons learned as an investment leader and physician network builder in the early and mid-stage healthcare vertical.

Gary A Goldman DDS MD

Gary has a BS from Stony Brook University, a DDS from New York University, and an MD from Drexel University Medical School. He completed an Internal Medicine internship, an Anesthesiology residency and Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and a Neurosurgical Anesthesia Fellowship at SUNY Downstate

With over 30 years of Clinical and Administrative healthcare experience and 20 years as a serial entrepreneur, Gary has been a founder for 2 healthcare technology start-ups, a physician informatics lead overseeing the roll out of the EHR Epic across Sutter Health, a not-for-profit health system in Northern California with 24 hospitals providing service to 100 Northern California cities, and has traveled across the country as a healthcare technology consultant for multiple academic and Private HCO’s. During that time Gary maintained his clinical practice in Anesthesiology with a sub specialty focus in obstetric anesthesiology. He is a founding member of the East Bay Anesthesia Medical Group and founded, scaled and held the position of medical director for its high risk Obstetric Anesthesia division, for over 20 years, caring for up to 8000 patients per year.

Robert “Bob” Sweeney

Bob has spent over 30 years as an executive in start-up and growth companies. From 1997 to 2016, Bob led the Challenger Corporation as the Chief Executive Officer, Board Member and Investor. Challenger rose from a fledgling start-up to national prominence in physician education under his leadership. Prior to this, he was Senior VP and a founder of Team Health, and functioned as their senior sales and negotiating executive. The company was founded in 1991 by Bob and four others. Team Health grew from $11mm to $425mm in annual sales before exiting in a public offering in 1994. Bob has an MBA from Memphis State University, a doctorate and MA in History from Carnegie Mellon University, an MS in Experimental Psychology from the University of Memphis, and a BA in History & MAT in Social Sciences from Binghamton University. He is a black belt practitioner of aikido, a ranked lifemaster in the American Contract Bridge League, and the author and administrator of a prominent website on the history of Sullivan County, PA where his emigrant ancestors settled. Bob is married to Lynn Franklin of Memphis, TN, and they have one daughter – a successful entrepreneur, who lives with her husband and their son in the Los Angeles area.

Chris Kager MD

Chris has a B.A. and M.D degree from the University of Pennsylvania; He completed an internship and neurological surgery residency at the University of Cincinnati (Mayfield Clinic). In addition, he completed a complex spine surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Chris has been a surgeon and partner in Lancaster NeuroScience and Spine Associates since 2001, the practice was recently acquired by Penn Medicine/Lancaster General Health effective January 2019. Chris remains in active clinical practice as a board-certified neurosurgeon. He currently holds the role of Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery at Lancaster General Hospital.

Chris has experience in informatics and actively participated in the evaluation and implementation of Lancaster General Hospital’s system-wide EMR.

Chris is an active investor in multiple sectors, with a focus on the healthcare and hospitality verticals., Chris has been the CMO of a regional angel investor network.

Dave Goldman

Dave began his career as an equity derivatives trader at Group One Trading in 2012. At Group One, Dave ran a portfolio with a focus on special situations, ranging from early-stage technology IPOs to biotech and healthcare equities. He has since held analyst and associate roles at several banks and funds including Valkyrie Trading, Falcon Point Capital and most recently at Goldman Sachs & Co. Dave received his BA from Wesleyan University with a dual degree in Mathematics & Economics.

Shirin Ahmed

Shirin is a strategic advisor, investor, and policy analyst professional driving population health management, business development and optimization as well aligning organizations with the evolving regulatory landscape. 

Shirin works alongside leading Private Equity and Venture Capital Firms,  Health Care REIT’s, Hedge Funds, Large Health Systems, Post-Acute Care Providers, Commercial Banks, Academic Medical Centers, Free Standing Urban, Rural and Community Hospitals, Clinically Integrated Networks, Specialty Providers (Behavioral Health, Pediatrics, Anesthesia), FQHCs, Managed Care Companies, Biotech/Pharma/Life Science/Digital Health Companies, Law Firms, Not for Profits, and National and International Government Agencies, guiding them with strategy, development and implementation of consumer centric healthcare delivery models, financial, clinical, operational and regulatory due diligence, value-based network design, performance improvements, mergers and acquisitions strategy, and market positioning for early-late stage digital health/life science companies.

Shirin mentors seed and early stage startups in digital therapeutics space and also partners with subject matter experts across the globe to develop thought leadership on health systems transitioning to value based care. Prior to her advisory role,  Shirin joined a core Strategy team at New York- Presbyterian, the University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell involving the Community Pediatrics and Ambulatory Care departments to help design and evaluate the establishment of a shared services organization for joint population health programs. She has also led large scale donor funded ($20m+) research and implementation projects in areas of immunization, child and maternal health and HIV/AIDS globally.

Shirin has an MPH in Population Health program with advanced certificate in healthcare management from Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health, and an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in Business Economics and Public Health.
